Cap d’Erquy

Unusual place, authentic nature, pink sandstone cliffs, pine woods, dunes, wild beaches, emerald waters… A place steeped in history: cannonball oven, guardhouse, old quarries, customs path… The local rocks are the result of superimposed layers of sand dating back 470 million years.

With friends, family, anytime, anywhere, Erquy has its charms. Erquy, the world’s leading mussel and scallop fishing port, lives to the rhythm of the tide. From November to March, watch the fishermen unload bags of scallops for the auction in the parking lot near the slipway. It’s also the starting point for sea excursions and the Vedettes de Bréhat. Côtes d’Armor scallops are celebrated in turn each year in one of three ports: Loguivy, Saint-Quay Portrieux and Erquy.

In Erquy, it’s all about living with the tide. Kayaking, sailing, windsurfing, stand-up paddling at high tide and sand yachting at low tide, there’s something for everyone. There are 10 sandy beaches for those who want to soak up the sea spray and soak up the sun in complete tranquillity. Each of Erquy’s beaches has its own character. The landscape is divine, with rocky outcrops and pine forests, surrounded by peat bogs with gorse and heather in bloom. Plage Saint-Michel is also well worth a visit. All these incredible places are within easy reach.
